At the Military Tournament at the Agricultural Hall the New South Wales Mounted Rifles defeated a detachment of British Regular Cavalry in wrestling on horseback. Mr Chamberlain, Seoretary of State for the Colonies, inspected the detachment, and complimented their commander, Colonel Lasseter, on their smart appearance. Colonel Lasseter afterwards dined with Mr Chamberlain. A Japanese 5 per cent gold loan of £4.889,000 has been placed on the market. The minimum is fixed at 101*. On the arrival of Mr Seddon and bis party at London they were met at the Euston railway station by Mr H. F. Wilson (Private Seoretary to Mr Chamberlain, Secretary of Btate for the Colonies) and Mr W. A. Baillie Hamilton (Chief Clerk in the Colonial Office), and driven to the Hotel Cecil in three Royal carriages. The Cambridge University intends to confer the honorary title of Doctor of Laws upon Chief Justice Way, of South Australia, and the colonial Premiers.
