A Resident Drowned.
Last night Me William Anderson, The eldest son of Mr John Anderson, arrived in town and reported that his father had been drowned yesterday by the overturning of a boat off the coast opposite the Hyderabad. .
The deceased and his son bad been to Kapiti to fetch a boat from there, and the weather having delayed them they wsre naturally anxious to make a start on their return. This they did yesterday, the morning, under tho lee of Kapiti, appearing calm. They sailed along the coast until nearly opposite the Hyderabad, when the gale was found to be too much for the boat, and it was tbeq determined upon to' beach her. The boat somehow capsized, and William Auderson fancies it must haVe struck his fatber a 9 he never saw him again. He managed to get some of hia olothes off and then swam; to> shore, and on reaching it he was thoroughly exhausted. -After a rest he walked inkni to the Native settlement and obtained the loan of a horse upon which he rode into town and reported the fatality to Constable Gillespie, " . - The deceased leaves a widow and a large family to mourn his loss. We are sorry to say that the body has not been recovered as yet. We tender our sympathy to the widow and bereaved family.
