Record Reigns.
In connection with Her Majesty's record reign it has been pointed out that the King of Hiam, on November 11th entered upon the twenty-ninth^*"" year of . his reign, tfhich is Hkd^ Queen Victoria's the- longest of his dynasty, and with one exception, that of Phra Bahmah Tibodee 11, who reigned 40 years, the longest of any ruler in Siam. It is worth remembering that Asia can lay claim to the longest reign, Sapor II of Persia having reigned 88 yearß. As a matter of fact, the chronicles record Sapor II as having occupied the throne two months longer than he really lived. Two months before his - birth, when his predecessor oame off the throne, the astrologers, to avert political trouble, proclaimed the coming child to be a boy, and the mother was crowned Queen Regent.
