The police at Feilding yesterday, says Tuesday's Advocate, were engaged searching the Oroua river for Xbe hodj of Louisa Clark, .who was supposed, to have drowned benelf. The girl, who was 19 ttars of age anil "the daughter of Mr Aqgar fSl&rU] of Am'ti, wal engagtd m * servanfafDr'Johnaoa's. She was beard moving in her room on Son* day morning, bat it appeared afterwatfdg^tbat she had not got within the clothes but laid on the top only, and was missing on Sunday. She left two letter?, one addressed to her employer and the other to her p irents, but the contents of neither have been allowed to become public. But, judging from the action of the police in searching the ri?er she must have intimated her intention of committing suicide. She did say to the boy employed by the Doctor that she would rather drown herself young in the Oroua river, where her brother lost his life; than live to be an. old woman, and asked him where there was a good bathing place. If there was- any cause to induce her to commit suicide, it is not publicly known. She apparently left the doctor's house, bare headed, for both her hats, with all her clothing, with k the exception of what she wore, are" still there. Up to the time we went to press, there was nothing known as to her whereabouts.
