Captain Sinclair (Liberal), for- j nierly member for Dumbarton, has been elected to the Forfar seat in the House of Commons/ j Speaking at Birmingham, Mr Chamberlain said the personal representation of the whole Empire at the celebration of the Queen's record ' reign will be a fitting tribute to Her j Majesty. Great good would result ! from the interchange of ideas upon closer commercial relations, common defence, and other fruitful questions. Great Britain wished it to be proved I that she was as proud of her colonies as the colonies were of the Mother Country, and closer union would render the Empire impregnable and unassailable. '■■
