The N.Z. Mail.
We congratulate tht editor of the above paper on his Xmas number, a copy of which we have just received. The number consists of 80 pages, and is chock full of illustrations which are not only of New Zealand scenery but are tjje work of colonial workmen. There are a number of short stories written expressly for this issue, which will be found well op to the standard. The views of the colony are from photographs and some of the prettiest and most remarkable have been selected. A large number of portrait! of well* •known men with a snort written description takes up a few pages. The Wellington Exhibition is well described and well illustrated. In addition there is the usual amount of reading generally supplied each week. Mr Wilson, the editor, had his hands full for in addition to editing this heavy edition he was fighting f(u^~one of the Wellington seats. It does not appear that his candidature interfered with his literary duties.
