THE SOCIAL.

At the ooDclusioD of the Bervice the congregation met again at the public hall, which was also tastefully decorated. The hail was well filled, aod Mr W. 8. Stewart opened the proceedings by formally welcoming the Rev. R. Young and thanking the Bishop for appointing so good a man. The Bishop replied to the remarks addressed to him and said he felt sure that Mr Young was the right man for the district. Mr Young feelingly referred to the oeremony of institution and said he felt very much the serious responsibilities which he had assumed but he looked for help and assistance from his parishioner?. Mr Hunt, Mr Young's late Vicar, made some very kind remarks on the esteem in which Mr Young had been held in, in Palmer' aton, and doubted not bat that in a short time he would be held in similar kindly manner here. There were a few songs, Mr Stansoll obligingly giving a solo, and "he also sang a duet with Miss Hester Burr. The Rev. Mr Earee sang to the great delight of the audienoe who demanded an encore which was granted. Everyone felt they had had a great treat by thi<j gentleraan/s singing and the fame that had preceedtd him was found richly deserved. The ladies handed round ooffee and cakes, and as is usual with them worked hard and successfully. The second of November will for the future be marked as a red letter day in the annals of J&e Foxton parochial district. ; • -%
