Hii Worship the Mayor has obig* Ingly handed us the following letter he has juat received : — Department of Agriculture, Wellington, October 2nd, 1896. Sir, — Adverting to mine of 19th ultimo I have now to inform you that it has been decided to offer a subsidy of £ for £ up to £250 towards the expense of sending an expert to America and Great Britain to investigate end report on probable markets for our hemp. I shall be pleased to hear if this meets with approval. John D. Ritchie, Secretary.
