. ♦ The Matabele chief Makoui, recently captured, was tried by courtmartial and, being convicted, was shot. Many waggons lost by the British troops have been recovered in the caves from which the Matabele were dtiven. It has been discovered that the rebels have hanged many white women since the outbreak of hostilities.
