Stock Report.
Wanganui, Sept. 2. We had a large attendance at the St. Hill street sale to-day. The sale of Mr Baker's horses induced a number of those interested in racing stock to be present. The horses were in low condition, which militated greatly against their sale, though they realised up to our expectations. Cattle were without ohange in value. Sheep were slightly lower, bat firm, at the quo* tations. Pigs were at Uifc ial« rates. Cattle— Empty cows, £2 18i ; year* lings, 26s to 81s ; weaners, 15s to 17i. Sheep— Fat ewes, 9s 9d to 11s 2d ; Withers, 10s 8d ; hoggets, 7s 6d to Bs. Horses— Mr Baker's horses sold ai follows:— Somnus, £150; Lochnagar, £28 ; Rangatira, £21; Nina, £88 ; Wairuareka, £88 10a ; colt by Somnus, dam Lady Artist, £80. The young stock brought from £5 10s to £9 108. Pigs— Baconers, 81s 6d to 81s ; porkers, 10s 6d to 14s 8d ; small pigs, 6s 8d to 9s.
