How the Japanese Age Is Counted.
Japanese age is counted in a manner very peculiar to our ideas. At whatever period of the year a child is born, whether in January, the middle of the year, or December, it is said to be 1 year old on the Ist of the January following. Then each succeeding year of 12 months is, as with us, another year.
