A Modern Marriage.
■ -■ ■ ■♦ A Boene mnch resembling the marriage of Wemmick and his beloved in " Great Expectations " was recently witnessed in Brentford High Street, with the addition of a bicycle made for two (says the London Daily Telegraph.) A lady and gentleman were riding on a handsome tandem machine. There wa3 nothing remarkable about them. The damsel was neatly dressed in a welladjusted bodice and skirt made of a dark and soft material, while the young man was arrayed in tourist s tunic and knickerbockers, finished off with worsted stockings and brown •hoes. As they neared Brentford the gentleman suddenly remarked, ! " Hallo t I've found a ring in my pocket." The lady blushed. In a < minute or two he said, " Hallo, here's a registrar's office. Do you think they do marriages there ?" Sbe said softly that she thought she did, and he promptly added, " Then ' let's go in and get married." They '. oarried their tandum into the vesti- ' bale, and went into the sanctum, where the lady found that everything had been thoughtfully arranged for the ceremony, which proved, after all, to be a long considered impromptu on the part of the bride- j groom. The pair were happily married. When their fate became known in the neighbourhood, a considerable crowd gathered around the office door, and heartily cheered the couple as they rode away to com* mence married life on a bicycle made for two,
