To make croutons butter a slioe of evenly out bread. Divide it into cubes that will be one-third of an inch on a aide. Plaoe these little cubes on a tin plate or shallow dish and pnt the dish on the grate in a moderate oven for 15 minutes. When done, they should be light golden brown throughout, crisp and brittle. Sometimes cubes of bread ate fried in fat to resemble croutons, bat unless done by a skillful hand they lapk the delicate flavor of those which are battered and browned in an oven.
