All Saints' Church Meeting.

Last night the annual meeting of the congregation of All Saints' Church was held at the Masonic Hall at half-past seven. There was bat a poor attendance. The Vicar, the Rev. George Ait*. kens, took the chair and opened the proceedings with prayer. He then read the audited balance-sheet, on which a small discussion arose as to the inclusion of a sum not yet in the hands of the Vestry, and it wa3 decided advisable to strike this amount out. With this correction the balance-sheet was passed. The Chairman said he had appointed Mr W. S. Stewart Minister's ohurchwarden, and he had accepted the nomination. Mr A. S. Easton was re-elacted people's churchwarden, an office he has held for years. The following gentlemen were then elected members of the Vestry for the coming year .-—Messrs B. Gower, Alf Fraser, E. S. Thynne, Walter G. Robinson, and J. Morton. Messrs Langdon and Ray were appointed auditors. The meeting passed a hearty vote of thanks to Messrs Langton, as auditor; Alf Fraser and E. P. Cowles, as lay-readers ; A. S. Easton, as churchwarden; J. T. Ray, as Sunday School superintendent ; W. England, as organist ; and J. Coley as bell-ringer. \lso to Miss Whyte as organist, and to the ladies of the sewing bee. A discussion was originated about teaching the catechism in the Sunday School, and it appeared the wish of the meeting that this should be done, but it was agreed to leave matters as they are for a time, A vote of thanks to the chair brought the formal proceadings to an end. Before separating Mr England Mte a recitation, also Mr Alf Fraser, both of which were interesting and given with spirit, and were heartily applauded. Mr McElwain obligingly lent his photographs of the Cook Islands and a sample of native manufactures in hats made from split bamboo. A preserved turtle's head was another curiosity, unknown to many who viewed it. The Vicar desires to express his thanks to Mr McElwain for the trouble he took.
