+ Judge T , in an American Court, was on the bench, and in the exercise of his judicial f emotions severely reprimanded two young lawyers who had got into a personal dispute. A herculean backwoodsman, attired in a red flannel shirt, was among the auditors. He was much pleased at the judge's lecture, and hallooed out to his worship, who happened to squint : — •« Give it to 'em, old gimlet eyes !" "Who is that?" demanded the judge. He of the flannel shirt, proud of being thus noticed, stepped oat from among the rest, and, drawing himself up to his full height, vooiferated. " It's this here old hoss I" The judge called out in a peculiarly dry, nasal tone : "Sheriff, take that 'old hoss,' put him in ' the stable,' and see that he is not stolen before the morning." Bo the " old hoss " was led off, muoh to his dissatisfaction.
