The Premier's Birthday.

On Monday night a pleasing incident occurred in the life of the Hon. Richard Seddon when his fellow colonists presented him, at the Skating Rink, Wellington with two addresses, and Mrs Seddon with a handsome necklet of diamonds and pearls, with a splendid diamond and pearl pendant attached. The pendant is composed of a six-pointed star of brilliants and scrolls sec with pearls between each point. It bears the following inscription : — " From the women of the New Zealand Liberal Party to Mrs R. J. Seddon, the true helpmate of her distinguished husband in all his great public works. June 22, 1896," and also with a beautiful opal and diamond bangle. Both Mr and Mrs Seddon suitably responded.
