» A remedy for one of the chief ob« stacles to the general use of aluminium, the oxiding of the surfaoe has been found by Professor G6tting of the Berlin Artillery and Engineering Academy. Aluminium h dipped into a diluted solution of certain salts, that are not made public ; which turn the surface into a brown substance, of great resisting power resembling Japanese bronze. Ex* periments are being . made to find out, whether with the new treatment, aluminium can be used for cooking utensils for the army.
