An appalling cyclone has swept over the' district of St. Louis, itl Missouri. Fifteen hundred people were crushed to death. Sfc Louis resembles a town which has been bombarded. Lightning set fire to many build* iogai Many towns in Missouri, Indiana and Illinois have been destroyed by the same cyclone. Four hundred corpses have been recovered in St. Louis* The estimates of the damage range from 10,000,000 to 30,000,000d01. The cyclone devastated a district in the south west of the town half a mile wide and four miles long. The streets are choked by debris. The main damage was on the river front. Churches and hospitals were razed to the ground. In all 12 trains were blown over in the suburbs. Congress has unanimously agreed to come to the relief of the sufferers. A terrible scene took plaoe at a peasant feast held outside Mosoow in honour of the Czar's coronation. An immense crowd of 400,000 assembled, and the number of attendants not being adequate the people madly rushed the booths. The crowd were wedged in a narrow passage, and the pressure was terrific. People wsre trampled to death, chiefly women and children. The hollowd in the ground proved great death-traps. The police and Cossack soldiery were quite unable to stop the mad .rush. It is officially announced that 1100 have been killed and 450 injured. By the cyclone in Missouri 540 peivons were killed and 700 injured. The Mayor's estimate of the loss of property is 20 million dollars. The eastern portion of St. Louis city suffered most.
