The life story of Thomas Lang ton, tho Yorkshire evangelist, has just been published. Mr La^gton still survives. His father was a village innkeeper of the good, old* fashioned sort ; he would permit no working-man customer at his tavero to drink more than two glasses of beer at one time. If any shewod a dssire to indulge further he would say :--" Billy, doesn't thoo think thy wife could do wi' a new frock '? Little Mary looked varry canld this morning as ehoo went to t'school ; buy her a pair o) good strong boota, and dou't spend thee brass in sich foolery as strong ale."
