To police authorities, Wellington." The parcel was forwarded to the police station, and on being opened by Chief-De-tective Campbell was found to contain the dead body of an infant, evidently newly -born, in a cardboard box. The body was neatly clothed in lace-tvimmed garments and bonnet. A bunch of white chrysanthemums rested on its breapt. Tho following message was found on a slip of mourning note-paper placed inside the box:— " Sir?, — Enclosed you will find the sum of 10s. Kindly bury somebody's darling in a littio coffin, and oblige one who will be miles away when you read this." A post mortem examination of the body will be made, and an inquest held. N. Z. Times.
