Chrysophrase.
A ' rich vein of chrysopbrase, a translucent quartz of great value, has been discovered in Tulare country, California. Specimens sent to Tiffany; the great New York jeweller, were estimated to be worth £10 to 420 each. Chrysophrase, in its per* feot state, has hitherto been found only in Siberia, and no great quantities.of the precious stone have ever been pui on the market.
If is a variety of chalcedony commonly, apple-green in colonr and often extremely beautiful, so that it is much esteemed in jewellery. It is translucent, or sometimes semitransparent, and of a hardness little inferior to that of flint.
