Death of Sir Henry Parke's.
Sir Henry Parkes : died at Sydney iit 4.8 d a.m. on Monday; the immediate cause of death being failure Of the heart's action. The only persons with Sir Henry Parkes at the time of his death were his wife and the Misses Parkes. At rhidnigiifc a change for the "worse set in, and the action of the heart weakened. Restoratives were applied, and the venerable statesman rallied ; but it was only temporarily, and he gradually sank to a peaceful end; Towards the last he wa3 unable to speak* He recognised his wife, but none of the others at the bedside. His death; though not; unex pected, has created a profound impression in the city.
Some years ago £9000 wag subscribed by the public, of which Sir Henry Parkes received the interest. The amount will now be divided, according to the terms, between the children of his first marriage, consequently the children of the second marriage, and also the present Lady Parkes, are left unprovided for. The eldest of ihe former is twelve, and the youngest three.
