The column from Mafeking to Buluwayo is marching at the rate of 25 miles a day. and is expected to reach Macloutsie on the 13th May. The telegraph wires have been cut 20 miles south of Buluwayo.

At the trial of the members of the Reform Committee in connection with the Jameson raid, Judge Gregorowski (of the Orange Free State) presiding, Colonel Rhodes, Mr Philips and Mr Farrar pleaded guilty of treason, and the other prisoners of lese maj'este without hostile intent. The remaining counts were withdrawn.

The proceedings were quiet, and were not marked by vindictive feeling. The prisoners are to be sentenced on Monday.

It is expected that severe sentences will be passed, but that they will be afterwards remitted.

It is officially announced that President Eruger will be unal 1 > to visit England at present, as bis presence is needed in the Volkgraad.
