LEVIN C.C. „ FOXTON C.C. On Easter Monday the return nlatcbj Levin v. Foxton, was played in> Mr Stanseli's paddock, resulting In a win for the local team by 15 runs. The weather in the rooming was > so gloomy and threatening that by 10 o'clock even the most enthusiastic had given up hope of a game atid cricketers were wandering around disconsolate, when at 10>20 a telegram was received from the Levin Secretary saying that the sky looked • btjsMJiere-yis if it might clear up &ncl that his men were starting. Good old Mclntyre ! That was in the right spirit of a true cricketer. So in due course they arrived, got a hearty welcome, and were properly fehtelrtained at ths Manawatu Hotel. \flhen the game was played, and it proved not only the moat enjoyable but the best of the season. In spite of the light, which was a bit drying at times, the batting all 'round was good, the fielding was fair, and th 9 bowling not to be despised or trifled with. Mcln tyre's score of 60 for Foxton was an eyeopener, and on the Levin side Butts' 81 and Ayrey's 22 (not out) were both compiled by good cricket and sound judgment. Ayrey'a bowling, 5 wickets for 28 runs, was very good indeed, although Bishop's 3 for 12 was more taking. For Foxton Stansell and Williams, who were entrusted with the leather only towards the end of the game, were most destructive. Mr Blake umpired tor Foxton and Mr Wrigley for Levin with their usual efficiency. We append the scores : — FOXTON.— First innings. W. Nye, b Ayrey . . . . 12 F. Martin, b Ayrey . . 0 T.
