I Drought is causing a famine in Algeria. The Coreaus are harassing tha troops in that country, and the Japanese have sent warships to quell the rebellion. The Spanish troops in Cuba again mistook their comrades in ambush for rebels, and firing on them killed and wounded 80 of the number before the mistake was discovered. Two of the journalists charged with blackmailing in connection with the Lebaudy scandal have been sentenced each to 13 months 1 imprisonment. The others have been acquitted. Russian scientists will send a search expedition if Dr Nansen does not return from his Polar expedition by the autumn.
