Evidence was given at the trial of Dr Jameson, at the Bow street Police Court, which showed that the Boers opened £i: Hercules Robinson's despatches recalling Dr Jameson's party, and detained the bearer for several hours, and that they afterwards escorted him until Jameson's party was overtaken. A meeting attended by 56 members of the House of Commons was , held to discuss trie advisability oi adding to the Eadical programme a policy of Home Rule all round. It was decided that the time was inopportune for giving effect to such a proposal. The Irish members threaten a rupture on the question. St. James' Vestry has decided to spend £10,000 on kauri paving in Piccadilly. > ; The case against Dr Jameson has been adjourned for five weeks. The Associated Chambers of Commerce have passed a resolution j in favour of an Imperial penny post.
