The match Carnarvon C.C. v. Foxton C.C, which had been arranged for Saturday, did not come off. About 10 o'clock a telegram from the secretary of the Carnarvon Club was received, stating that owing to heavy rain falling in his district, the Carnarvon team could not come. However, as the weather in Foxton was beautifully fine for eric-> ket, the local team resolved not to be baulked of a game, and scratch sides 4fl£fcre chosen by the captain (Harrison), and vice captain (Betty), re- j spectively, and a very good game resulted. At the conclusion of the first innings the players with some of their friends adjourned to Whyte's Hotel, where an excellent lunch had been provided by Mr Stansell in his usual good style. After lunch the second innings was played, both sides displaying rather less activity or eagerness to make runs than before lunch. The game resulted in a win for the captain's team. A trophy which had been provided for the highest score on either side fell to the bat of the veteran, Ingram. Mr Blake, whose presence on the field was warmly welcomed, acted as umpire, and everyone was pleased to see the old gentleman so spry and active. "
