The Polo Tournament.
On Saturday afternoon the Oroua played the Eangitikei No. 1 team and defeated them after a grand gaftie by 7 to 8. The following rjonderised account from the Standard shows that the Oroua'a won on their merits. In the firat spell Ban.jgitik.ei scored 3to their opponents' 0. Following play saw iushes tne length of the ■ field by Rfogitikei and Oroua, and -^i.ett Robinson created applause by a splendid save for Oroua when the ball was rolling between the post 3. Shortly afterwards McLennan by an exceptionally fine stroke scored for Oroua. Daring the third spell from throw in Oroua again got away and Strang and McLennan coming down the field by thenisetves> the scoria were equalised by £trantt. Eangitikei 8, Oroua & Rangitikei then livened up, and shot the ball over Oroua's line twice, and followed this up with a shot which should have been a certain score but' jusfc ran outside. Oroua came again, however, and Strang, hitting splendidly, placed the Foxton men in the ascendancy. Oroua, 4, Bangitikei 9. Taking the ball from the throw-in Oroua went straight down the field, and sent the ball between the posts. Oroua 5, Rangitikei S. Rangitikei made two dangerous runs on Oroua's goal, and immediately afterwards Bill nearly scored, McLennan saving well and following up carried the play to Rangitikei*s end. After a lew exchanges, McLennan hit from near the centre, and Gower in the next stroke sent the ball flying throogh the goal. Oroua 8, Rangitikei 8. Another exciting shot was made by Oroua, and within the next minute Strang brought down the gallery by a very clever piece of play, scoring the seventh goal for Orona. Oroua 7, Rangitikei 8. The spell ended with a rush by Rangitikei, from which nothing resulted. The spell opened with a free hit by Rangitikei in front of Oroua's goal, but Blundell made a bad shot, and Biddiford had hard luck in not scoring. The spell, a very short one, closed with the ball in the cen* tre, with tho score — Oroua 7 Rangitikei 8
