Police Court.

Saturday, 21st March. (Before Messrs Thynne, Nye and Davies, J's. P.) Robert Stanley was charged with having no visible lawful means of support. He admitted the fact. Thos. F. Gibson, the town clerk, deposed to having provided him with board and lodging, which Stanley however refused; Constable Gilleapie stated that Mr Richard Walden was willing to take the man at a nominal wage if be agreed to go. This offer Stanley accepted, so the charge was dismissed. Joseph Edelsten was charged with having no visible lawful means of support. The man had walked from Napier, and was found lying in the gutter. The constable understood the man had been ill, and was suffering from weakness. In answer to the Bench, the accused said he had almost lost bis memory. He had been ill, and bad a brother at Taonui. The Bench arranged with the' Mayor for the man's train tare to Taonui, to be paid out of the charitable aid, and dismissed ' the charge. Charles Arthur Harrison was charged by the police with having assaulted Andrew Young. Frederick Robert Young waß charged by the police with having assaulted Charles A. Harrison. Andrew Young was oharged by the police with having assaulted Charles A. Harrison. The police a eked that all three charges should b-3 heard together, which was agreed to. All three accused pleaded guilty, stating they regretted the occurrence, but believed more had been made of it than what had occurred. They were fined 20* each with 7a costs each, in default seven day's imprisonment.
