Manawatu County Council.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the above was held at Sanson yesterday morning at 11.80 o'clock. Pressnt— Crs Barisom (chairman), Taylor, Masters, Hammond, Wilson, Strang and Robinson. minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The inw.ard correspondence was 0 read as follows : — From John Miller, asking for transfer of slaughtering license for section 269, Feilding, from his name to that of John Collingwood. From R. and J.vPerrett, Sanson, asking for permission to clean out the drain fronting their sections on Spaedy's Line. From J. A. Hanabey wishing Thomas S. Drake's name substituted for his for sections 245 and 246 in the town of Campbell. From secretnry Sluggish River Drainage Board, saying the difficulties connected with the acquisition of the two chains of land through section 386 near Oroua Bridge for road and drain purposes are now surmounted, and that a. tracing would be forwarded without delay. From Land and Income Tax Department, w advance on account of subsidy for the current year. From Alec Jardine, solicitor, re the commissioner appointed to report on the proposed Junction Railway, From C. . H. Tarranfc, Awahou, asking for half the northern square in that place for site to build a Library Hall. From Treasury Department acknowledging reoeipt of £189 6s 10d, being interest due to Ist February, 1896. From John V. Burr, Motoa, applying for a slaughtering license for section. s6>B, Motoa. From A. E. Bull, Campbelltown North, asking for a lease for two or three years of the Kopani gravel pit. From Rangitikei County Council, re rebuilding Rangitikei Bridge at Bulls. From the Treasury Department, acknowledging receipt of £71 15s 7d, being interest due to Ist Feb., 1896. From P. E. Dauiell, re cheque for Scott's Ferry management. A petition from a number of ratepayers waa presented to the Council by Cr Wilaon, praying that a road be constructed between the Sandon Bulls and the FeildingAwahuri Roads. It was resolved that the petition lay on the table till next meeting. Proposed by Cr Taylor, seconded by Cr Hammond, That the transfer of slaughtering license from John Miller to John Collingwood be made whence necessary transfer fee be paid, and that John V. Burr be granted a slaughtering license for section 56 B. Carried. Proposed by Cr Ransom, seconded by Cr Taylor, That Mr S. Saxon be appointed Registrar of Dogs for the County of Manawatu for the year 1896, and fcbafc the registration office be the County office, Sanson. Carried. Proposed by Cr Wilson, seconded by Cr Ransom, That the Council has no objection to the request of the Awahuri Library Committee being granted a portion of the Square for library purposes, but a 9 the reserve is vested in the Crown the Council baa no jurisdiction over it. Carried. Proposed by Cr Taylor, seconded by Cr Hammond, That the name of T. S. Drake be placed in the rate book for sections 245 and 246, Cimpbelltown, instead of J. A. Hanabey. Carried. After the dinner a<3j urnment, Cr Masters gave notice of motion to move at next meeting, That the motion passed on the 18th Feb., 1895, That in the event of tenders being accepted for Taylor's Line it be charged- to special loan account, hi rescinded, and that one half the amount be charged to the Carnarvon Biding Account. The following tenders were received :— Contract No. 8, Supply and delivery of 250 yards metal on Bulls Sandon and Sandon Awahuri Roads : C. McColl, 5s 6d per yard ; J. Gordon & Co, 2s lid; R. L. Henderson, 2s 8d (accepted). Contract No. ,4, supply and delivery of 150 yards metal on TaipoAwahuri Road : C. McColl, 5b 8d ; J. Gordon & Co., 4s ; R. L Hender bod, 83 8d (accepted) ; George Mer. 4g sd. Contract No. 5, Supply and delivery of 125 yards metal on FoxtonShannon Road :— O, McColl, 5s 3d : Carter Bros., 5s 6d (accepted) ; H Coley, 7s 4d ; Symons Bros., 73. Contraot No. 10, Supply and delivery of 100 yards metal on Fagan's. Wilson's and Bulls-Feilding Roads : C. McColl, 5a 9(3, per yard ; J. Gordon & Go., 8s ; W. Murray, 2s 9d ;H. J. Fagan, 8a 6d ; R. L Henderson, 2s 6d (accepted). Contract No. 11, Trimming and "metalling 243 chains on Rowe's and Hammond's Roads: J. Gordon & Co., £2 14a, per chain ; L. Mcllroy, £2 17s 6d ; J.' Mr Hinks, poundkeeper at San son, waited on the Council ani asked that a new pound should b provided, as the one now U3ed wa not large enough.
