Foxton School Committee.
The usual monthly meeting of the above was held last evening at 7 o'clock at Mr Ray's office. There were present Messrs« Rhodes, Little, Stansell and Ray. Mr Rhodes, in the absence' of the Chairman, was voted to the chair. The minutes of the meeting of January 6 were read and confirmed. The Clerk reported that a letter had been received from the Boa»d stating that the Board would supply posts, wire and staples for the fencing. Resolved that the Visiting Committee get the Girls' swings aupplied with chains at a lost not exceeding £1, and ascertain the cost of chain find rope combined, and also cost of rope only for the round-about. a hearty vote of thanks be passed to Mr and Mrs Stewart, Miss O'Brien and the school staff for their efficient services in getting up the |ate concert which the committee considers was in every way satisfactory from a spectacular arid financial point of view and that a copy of the resolution be sent to the Head Master. That Mr Frazer's account for £1 2s 6d be paid. A report was received from the headmaster stating that the school reopened after the Christmas holidays on Monday, January 27th, with, a fair attendance ; that all the teachers were present and that the average attendance for the first week was 196*9. With the report wag sent a list of 11 children who had been abMnt more than 4 attendances during the week. ' The committee considered that it was their duty to enforce the regular attendance of the scholars, and that patents neglecting their duty in this respect must be prosecuted. It was determined to let the list stand over until the list of absentees for the present week was received.
Resolved that this meeting be adjourned to Thursday the 18th inst., at 11 o'olook.
