Departure of Mr D. D. McKenzie.
■» ■ . ...— It ia a matter of very much regret in the Carnarvon district that Mr D. D. McEenzie has determined to leave for " fresh fields and pastures new." MrD. D. McKenzie is one of the oldest settles in Carnarvon having purchased his land at the first sale which was held at Marton about the year 1871 or 1872. Though never taking a seat on any of the looal boards, Mr McKenzie has always exhibited an earnest interest in their doings, and he was a powerful supporter of Mr J. G. Wilson oar representative in Parliament. The only exception he made to taking part in public affairs was in school mittera, in which he was always willing to do his share of work on the Committees. He will be a loss to his neighbours and friend?, and hearty wishes are j expressed f>r his success elsewhere. Some time back Mr D. D. McKenzie sold his farm to Mr McKelvie, and Messrs Gorton and Son have been instructed to hold a clearing sale of stock and furniture on Wednesday. There will most probably be a great gathering on tlie occassion, and stock and property should fetch full market rates, if not more.
