Notes and Events.

How will it do to address our Newtown friends " All Ale " at this happy season of the year. Someone, according to the applicant for the removal of the license to Newtown, has " felt a want," so another pub was needed at and removed to Newtown. Poor inhabitants, we have already grieved with you, and now we are woorrying to find who these thirsty Jonahs can be. Jonahs they must be, if more than one, and we believe there were two in it, as even the Jonah of history was not satisfied when the whale supplied him with a " deep sinker " for three days, as he arose for more. We need some Spook to help us in our difficulties, and we will chalk up somo notes, which exchanged elsewhere, may throw light upon what at present is all darkness. Facts, however, are these : — For many years this district possessed two "jolly old souls"' who disliked a drought as bad as any Cornstalker, and during their residence about here a new public house was licensed in this town to retail beer and spirituous liquors. Probably the opening of another house had nothing to do with their wants or feelings but the fact remains as we have stated, another house was licensed ! Again and again, of course, these facts may in no way have anything to do with one another, but facts, such stubborn things, show that now this extra house is one too many. Facts also show that another license has been granted in some other district. Can it be possible that any relationship exists batween people, places, and pubs ?
