Murad Bey, suspected of assisting the Young Turkey Party, has fled to Russia. Fifteen hundred Arab cavalry has besieged Saffi, a seaport town of Morocco, killed a number of Moors, and looted the houses of English merchants. Two thousand Hovas attacked the English mission quarters at Arivontmaino, and murdered the Rev. Mr Johnson and his, wife and mutilated their bodies. The remainder of the inmates effected their escape. M. Laroche, Prefect of the Department of Haute-Garonne, has been appointed Resident-General in Madagascar. Russia is strengthening her volunteer fleet in the Far East.
