Cricket.
Things in the cricketing line have been pretty dull hereabouts of late. In spite of the recent Levin disaster the numbers rolling up for the afternoon or evening practices have been deplorably small, on one occasion the ground being occupied for a whole afternoon by a solitary enthusiast who relieved his feelings by whistling sweet songs of praise and bowling " yorkers." However, we are pleased to learn from the secretary that the club is now waking up again from its lethargy and that a match i 3 to be played on Saturday with the Sandon club at Sandon. A special tram has been engaged to convey the cricketers and their friends to the convincing ground, connecting with the morning and evening trains at Carnarvon. The Foxton team will be selected on evening from the following : — Messrs Harrison (captain), Betty, Blake, Bradbury, Cole, Ennis, Ingram, Kruse, Lyall, Martin, Nye, Morgan and Williams. All are expected to turn up for a proper practice on Friday evening.
