« At a meeting of the Directors of the Wanganui Fruit and Vegetable Evaporating Company, held at the offices of the secretary, Mr W. Rodwellj on Wednesday, the secretary Was instructed to advertise in tho local papers that the company would be prepared to purchase C: 1 rotSjparsnips, cabbages, onions, turnips i (white) and swede, peas, leeks, and : celery in any quantity. The ques tion of railway freight was discussed, and it was reported that satisfactory i arrangements could be made with i the Railway Dftpartment, as soon as the company were in a position to . say what trade could be done in that direction. The advisability of sinki ing an artesian well on the com i pany's grounds wa3 raised, and the i matter was left in the hands of Mr ' J. Laird to report upon at next meet i ing. Mr Duflou was instructed to proceed to Palmerston to inspect an engine under offer to the company, after which to inspect the patterns ! castings of the machinery ordered from Luke and Sons, of Wellington. — Chronicle.
