Wellington, Sept. 14, 1895. Last Tuesday evening a very nice< dance was given at Mrs Levin's house in Tinakori Road, by Mrs Levin and some of her girl's friends. The large drawing-room was used for dancing, and was prettily and most elaborately decorated with lovely Russian violets and single daffodils, tbe supper table in the Jinyjg room Wfts/afso decorated with These flowers; A large room upstairs was converted into a reception room, where Mrs Levin received in a lovely black brocade gown, trained, 'and the bodice4rimmed with beautiful jet embroidery. , Miss Levin was I wearing a very.frlatty fresh pink I gown; with some "chiffon ruches on
the bodice, with here and there a small cluster of forget-me-nots, the contrast to the pink being very effective. Mrs H. D. Bell and Mrs J&nisch were the promoters ot the affair, and ought to be congratulated on the financial success of the undertaking. There was a very good supper (I did not see one piece of bread and butter) provided by several ladies and was laid out upstairs on the third storey, the decorations on the table being jars of peach blossoms and pink crimpled paper. Some of those present were Mrs Bell, who wore black brooade and pale yellow chiffon Mils on the corsage; Mrs J&niach, wore handsome brown satin, trimmed with ecru lace ; Mrs Baldwin, who wore a blaok velvet skirt, the reveva being of the same, and the bodice and under sleey^s were of white chiffon and ecru laca points; Mrs Beddard (England) pale yellow satin, and fluffy sleeves of chiffon to match ; Miss Simpson looked very nice in white" silk, trimmed with lace and snowdrops; Miss Johnston, cream satin, bound round the hem of the skirt with brown feather trimming, tho bodice was of gathered chiffon, kept in place with ecru lace points; her sister wore a neat black satin gowify Miss Williams soft white pompadour silk, -trimmed with "narrow bands pt black libbon velvet. .
