THE FLAX TRADE.
TO THE BDITOB OS 1 THE irkKAWATU :HEBifiD. Sir, — I read the letter of Mr Haggen'a which appeared " in your columns on the 14th instant with a great deal of interest and after having had correspondence with that gentleman I think those interested (and who is not?) in the Flax Trade, should endeavour to arrange a meeting and by a deputation place the matter before the Government. We should no doubt be glad of the services of Mr Haggen, arid perbjjps the local manager of the l?own Hall would grant the use of the Hall free or at a Blight charge for the discussion of a subject of such importance. I would be glad to see our worthy Mayor take this matter up. I am, &c, ; A Stohebeemsb. [Our correspondent "Storekeeper " will observe in another column that his suggestion is about to be carried but, a meeting of all those 'interested in the flax trade having been called for Friday next. Ed. M. Herald.]
