FOXTON v. PALMERSTON.
The return match between the Foxton and Palmerston State Schools was played at Palmerston on Saturday. The game was well contested throughout and resulted in a win ior the Palmerston boys by 6 points to 5. Although defeated, the Foxton boys deserve much credit for having ! made such a gallant fight against such odds, the Palmerston team having been chosen from the pick of their three schools. Mr Stewart, who as usual accompanied his boys, gave a warm invitation to Mr Mitchell, the manager of the com- j bined Palmerston team, to bring down to Foxton some time before the end of the season a team of boys representing any one of the Palmerston schools, promising a hearty welcome and a good game. The most prominent players were— for Palmers ton, Young (captain), Keeling and Mowlem ; for Foxton, Williams _(ca;ptain), Purcell and Furrie. After the close of the game the Foxton boys wore hospitably entertained by the Palmerston boys in the Campbell street school, and returned horn* by the etening train, well pleaded their day's outing.
