FOXTON v. PAIAKA. The return match between the above clubs was played on the race* course last Saturday, in the presence of a large number of spectators. The game* which was evenly contested throughout, resulted in a win for the home team by 17 to G. This rnajoriy _. of points on the Foston's side is due to the superior weight and pace eshibU«d bythe local forwards. The gamier #as played in a very friendly ( spirit^ Among the Paiaka backs 0. Gardner, 0. and 0. Bell and Beauchamp were the most prominent, while B. Wallace, D. Gardner, and Warbutton were the pick of the forwards. The local forwardsall played a sterling game while on the other hand the play of the back division was a dismal display of football. F. Thynne, on the wing, played a dash~ ing game, and C. O'Loughlin and F. Young were the pick of the backs. For Faiaka, B. Wallace and Wari* tana scored a try each. For Foxton F. Thynne scored two tries F. Young, G. Chuck and J. Whyfce scored one try each. The place kicking on both sides waa a failure ; the one succesful kick being made by F. Armstrong. Mr Kebbell acted as referee and gave every satisfaction, and Messrs H. Blake and F. Bills acted as line umpires. The visitors were entertained at Mr C. A. Harrison's.
