" Under the Palms."

A fortnight ago we noticed the introduction of the above Cantata. Since then the town choir have been praotising steadily at it. As the practises are private the public will be interested in knowing that the work grows in favour with those who know it best, as evidence such remarks as " That's pretty," " sweet, isn't it," "it should have a fine effect," etc. Mr England, banker, has kindly consented to bring his musical abilities to bear upon the piece, and Mr Osborne's baton is gradually bringing the numerous parts into ship-shape. The Corns inittee has every prospect of placing the cantata before the public by the end of the month.
