HOUSE OF EEPBESENTATIVES. Wednesday, June 26. Mr Guinness took the chair at 2.30. The following Bills were introduced and read a first time: — Mr Lawry, the Gaming and Lotteries Act Amendment ; Mr Morrison, the Imprisonment for Debt Abolition ; Hon. Sir R. Stout, the Homes Security and the New Zealand Journalists' Institute ; Dr Newmaja, the Slander of Women 5 Ron, Mi? Cadman, the Post Office. The House adjourned at 5.3Q p.m., and resumed at 7.30 p.m. The Address-in-Reply was resumed by Mr Buchanan, and Messrs Flatman, Dr Newman, Hogg, Earn* shaw and Buddo had spoken, Mr Pirani replied and the Address waj agreed to. Thursday, June 27. The House met at 2.30. The Speaker (Sir Maurice O'Eorke) took the chair for the first time this session. He briefly thanked the House for the indulgence granted him, and the Chairman of Com* mi t tees for having carried out the duties of Speaker during his absence. The following Bills were introduced and read a first time : — A Bill to Amend the River Boards Act ; the [Deceased's Husband's Brother Marriage Bill ; the Defamation Bill. On the motion to go into Committee of Supply some questions were asked and replied to by the Premier. Mr Joyce's Election of Governor Bill was thrown out on the motion for the second reading, the voting being 22 for and 82 against. The following Bills were read a second time :— The Uniforms Bill ; Adulteration Prevention Act Amendment Bill ; Criminal Code Act Amendment Bill ; Servants' Registry Offices Bill ; Dog Registration Act Amendment Bill , Native Townships Bill ; Public Tenders, Contracts and Works Bill ; Wages Attachment Abolition Bill. The House then rose,
