The Horswhenua Case.
I On Friday the Court of Appeal gave judgment in the above ease. 1 This was an appeal ontered by Warena Hunia against the judgment of the Chief Justice, delivered in
December la&i declaring Major Kemp and Hunia joint trustees of a portion of the Horowhenua Block for the Maopoko tribe. Mr Justice Denniston read the judgment of the Court, and said the land confided to Major Kemp ftttd Hunia was held for the benefit of all the members of the triba tb jfreVetifc alienation, and that land wash~te-4»e~* administered very much on the principles under which the property of ths tribe was held and dealt with before the introduction of Effgltsh law. The appeal would be dismissed With costs on the highest scale. On the application of Mr 0. B» "Mori3on, leave was given to appeal to the Privy Council, and stay of proceedings was granted on security being given to the satisfaction of the Registrar.— N.Z. Times.
