TO THE EDITOR OF THE HANAWATU JIFRALD Deak Sir, — When coming away the other morning trom Foxton as I passed Oroua Bridge I saw the new scoop for digging a drain or making embankments. I asked Mr Walter Simpson who had seen it work, how would it do for making the embank, ment at Moutoa, and he seemed to think it would do very well. He desoribes it as throwing out a continuous stream of soil, and when it does not come in oontaotwith timber, and has a dear way, works ad.

I take this opportunity to say that I have wired the Minister for Lands saying that that the people of Foxton desired him to purchase Moutoa for settlement purposes and have expressed mysrlf willing to accompany Mr McKerrow over this property as Well as Carnarvon which the Minister promised he would inspect* I am, &c, James G. Wilson.
