The court-martial in connection with the trouble : on board H.M.S. Ringarooina has commenoed at Sydney. The following charges are law against Surgeon Lea by Captain Johnson, viz : — Treating the captain contemptuously, refusing to go below when ordered to be placed under arrest, and refusing to obey a'command to sign an entry in the Jog stating that he had been placed under arrest. ' * . ; »
It transpires that Captain Johnson charged Lea with neglect of duty in connection with a certain proviiion made for the treatment of the wounded in action. The doctor, however, held that the matter complained of was not part of his duty. Later in the day the doctor ordered the captain to go below, aa he was on the Bick list, and required to be placed under observation. Captain Johnson declined, and in turn placed the doctor under arrest. The latter refused to obey the order, as the captain was on the sick list, and therefore not in com* mand of the ship. Lea was subsequently released by direction of Captain Castle, senior officer in charge of the station.— Press Association.
