Foxton Borough Council.
The ordinary meeting of the above was held last night at 7.80 at the' Library Buildings." Present — His Worship the Mayor (T P. Williams), Crs. Austin, Jenks, We^twood, Haraer and Bradcock. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. A letter was read from the clerk Woodville Borough Council, forwarding a resolution passed aoknowledging their appreciation of the kindness tendered 10 the excursionists ibsitt visited Foxton from that town. The accounts were then passed for payment as follows : -John Sullivan, £6 10< ; Rhodes & Co., 10i ; 0. Spring, £7 16s ; T. F. Gibson, £6 ss ; P. Guerin, lighting, £5 16d 8d ; same, for ranging, £8 16<? 9d ; same, commission on dog tax, £1 11s 8d ; Manawattj Hebald, £10 16s; 4* McGill, £4 U Bd, and refund deposit 1 , £1 ; D. Whibley, 15s ; Jacobs and Walker, £11 4*, and refund deposit, £2 ; 8.51. Court summons fees, £2 Is ; charitable aid to Mrs Boesen, £X 8s 8d ; G. Piggott, refund ferry lease ! deposit. £10. by Cr tlatfler— that the Public Works report as read be adopted. Cajried. Proposed by Cr Hather, seconded by dr firadcock— that this Coufccii acknowledge with pleasure the complimentary resolution passed by the Woodville Borough Council on the 14th inst., expressing their thanks for the attention paid to the Woodville excursionists by their representative, the Mayor, on behalf of the Foxton inhabitants. Carried. Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr Jenke-That Thomas F. Gibson be appointed to attend the Assessment Court to support the valuation on the new rolh Carried. Only two tenders were received for the supply of firewood to the Library Buildings for one year from B. Spelman and C. Nelson. On the motion of Cr Bradoock, seconded by Cr Haraer, the tender of B. Spelman's at 22s per cord 4ft. matai was accepted. The Counoil then went into committee on matters connected with the "Wirokino Ferry. On resuming its ordinary sitting the Mayor reported that the following motion had been carried in committee, which was approved of by the Council— Proposed by the Mayor, seconded by Cr \VeßtvrooZ,pro forma, That the toll-board of the Wirokino Ferry be replaced by a larger one, and tenders be called for painting Bame. The Council decided to hold a special meeting on the Bth inst. to accept and fix the schedule for toll* board, also that tenders be in by that date for the ranging. The Council then adjourned.
