y Gorton & Sow's Stock Repobt. v ; v . Bulls, 18th Feb. , Sinoe our last report a fortnight ago, we have held several ptock sales —at Sanson, Waituna, Feilding and Bulls, though in all cases the prices for sheep were low. The bidding was more brisk at Waituna than elsewhere, by tar the greater portion of the business being done under the jammer, and nearly everything was gold. A good deal of the stock, however, whioh was advertised did not come forward on account of the weather. Our Rain Fair at Feilding was conducted in a fairly heavy rain from start to finish, and under the oiroumstances considering the low prices rama are bringing this year, we did fairly well to sell ISB, and chiefly under the hammer. The Feilding horse sale was no brisker and we sold all Dr Bennett's horses and a few other useful horses, but there was no demand for the exceptionally good draught horses offered on behalf of Messrs Hooper Bros. Yesterday's sale here was tne dullest of all, and prices lower for sheep than we have ever known. Ocr tainly. the quality was by far the worst we have seen at our February sales here. We sold 100 head of cattle at fairly good prices, being all that were yarded excepting 10. We sold 6000 out of 7000 sheep and 52 rams and the total of the sale of sheep, to give an idea of the present state of the sheep market, did not reach one third of what a similar quantity would have brought three sears ago. In the quotations now >} given, we are only quoting yesterday's sale as the papers have published the others : — 18 month to 2 year mixed, £2 12s 6d to £2 8s ; }8 month steers, £2 2s ; yr and 18 month mixed, 84s 0d; weaners, 80s. Bheep.— Lambs, Is 7d to 2s lOd ; woolly lambs, 4s 8d ; for mixed gheep, -fit 8d; for ewes, various prices from Is to 8s ; Lincoln rams, Ito 1£ guineas ; old rams, ss.
