A Romance.

The young man's ;• father and mother were much dis^ tressed at this sudden marriage of their son and heir with an unknown young lady of whom they had no means of learning anything, and made anfcious inquiries of Ohristchurch people then in England as to what a female New Zealander was like. They received entirely reassuring replies, and shortly .after, ,"*y the young couple came home the parents called on their principal informant, and spoke with deep feeling of their delight in the young bride, of their love for her, and their entire pleasure and satisfaction in their son's choice, who had completely won their hearts from the first, and was now as a very dear daughter to them. A few days ago the father, Sir Edraond Lechmer.e (who was M.P. for the Evesham division of Worcestershire, and in his 69th year) died very suddenly when about to address bis constituents. So his son becomes Sir Edmund Lechmere, Bart, and his wife, formerly Miss Samuels, ., xjf , Christchuroh, New^Zealand, becomes Lady Lechmere.
