A Strange Case.
A strange case has lately come on before the Brussels High Court. It appears that in March last a young and charming married lady met with --> an aooident of such a nature that it was necessary to amputate her right leg. The operation was most successfully performed, and the operator / was so pleased with the way he took/ ; that leg off that he took it off alto-/ i gether, and exhibited it in a jar of spirits prominently in hia oon salting a; room. As the contents of the jar were authenticated by a desoriptive label, which bore amongst other details the patient's name and address, the patient's husband did not fail to h>av of this shot.. But the show failed to meet with his approval, and he instructed his solicitor to demandits immediate discontinuance, and the return forthwith of that which, being bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh, was undoubtedly his (plaintiffs) property. To this the surgeon admitted that plaintiff had proprietary rights in the leg while it formed part of his wife, but he argued that the leg, as it was now, was the result of bis (defendant's) skill and the work of his own bands, and that he was dearly entitled to keep it. Tha ,-■ Court seemed rather staggered with • this argument, and reserved its decision.
