Manawatu Rowing Club.

A committee meeting of the above :j. Olub was held at Stansell's Hotel last night. Messrs Ait ken (in the chair), Curtis, Cowles, Dermer, Hinchliffe and Howan werVpre&fen*. Messrs 3. J. X3alderwoou\ -T Kyie, E. and W. Ingram were elected members. It was decided to start short; sculling handicap races in the Rata and Nikau.. Distance to be half a mile— from Kutherford's to lower - end of Government wharf. First prize, silver medal; second, Olub jersey and cap. .: Conditions— .Ail^ subscriptions and dues to Club to be paid before starting in a race. En-« tries close on Monday October ICth at 8 p.m. Handicaps. to be declared - same evening. Acceptances close on ' Saturday 20th at 8 p.m. First heats to be rowed on Tuesday, October 28rd. Two E.P. cups were offered to the Club with the following conditions and were accepted : — 1. For pair-oared outrigger race , from Mr Duncan's bend to opposite old ferry against the current. No less than six crews to start; Committee to arrange crews from noini* nations received. All subscriptions and dues to be paid before starting. Boats, cdx and position to be tossed for. Any dispute to be finally settled by the committee. J udge and starter to be appointed by the* committee. Entries to close on Monday, Novem* ber sth at 8 p.m. Crews to be .arranged some evening. Accept 1 ': ances close on Saturday 10th at 8j p.m. First race to be rowed on first • Tuesday after sculling handicap ie finished. A vote of thanks to the chair con* eluded the proceedings.
